UFC 130 now has a new light heavyweight bout for its main card, a change of plans brought about when Thiago Silva was removed from the show. On the UFC’s Memorial Day weekend show; former light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will fight Matt Hamill, which will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 28 in Las Vegas.
Heavy.com reported the news of the signing. To MMA Fighting, Hamill’s head coach, Duff Holmes, confirmed the news and said that earlier in the day, Hamill had signed the bout agreement. Originally, Jackson was scheduled to face Silva on the card. The speculation surrounds a second test on Silva’s urine sample from UFC 125 and he has been removed from the show. The results of that test are to be released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. In Toronto in April, Hamill was next scheduled to fight Phil Davis at UFC 129 and now he will get an extra month before facing Jackson.
On numerous sites, Thiago Silva has stated that he has received no indication that he is out of the bout against Jackson for May 28. It appears the UFC may not want to take any chances in waiting, with a pending drug test result still coming back from the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Hamill often favors standing with opponents, which could prove costly against a talented striker like Rampage. Even though Hamill is a strong wrestler, but not stronger than Evans. A submission threat from Hamill is unlikely, something that Silva certainly would have. Winning over Rampage would be considered his biggest to date. It would take him a step closer to his dream to be considered one of the top ranked light-heavyweights in the world.
Hamill will need his all-around game in full force if he has to put up a fight against the heavy handed “Rampage.”. His career has been a tale in improvement.
In the upcoming UFC event Krzysztof Soszynski will square off against Goran Reljic. Scheduled to occur in Germany for just the second time in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the event will be UFC 122. In a Light Heavyweight bout these fighters will be squaring off.
In MMA Betting Odds, Krzysztof is a -120 moneyline favorite.
As these fighters will square off, this fight will feature an intersection of experience and youth. The amount of fights of Reljic, Soszynski has literally fought more than three times. Reljic will not be intimidated by a more experienced fighter as he has lost just twice in his MMA career that is what being said.
Soszynski has actually done quite well in his opportunities in the UFC even though he has lost 10 times in his MMA career. In the Ultimate Fighting Championship, this will be his 7th fight. In his 6 fights to this point he has earned a 4-2 record. In a rematch between the two fighters, in his most recent fight he fell to Stephan Bonnar, in a rematch between the two fighters. He is able to bounce back from defeat is what Soszynski will be dying to prove.
Soszynski had been on fire, prior to his last loss. Looked as if he was ready to take things to the next level and he had a 3 fight winning streak. In order to put him back on track he needed a win here.
After his last two fights, Reljic needs some momentum. Even though he was unsuccessful in his attempts he tried to move to the middleweight division. In the first two losses of his career, he dropped both of his fights. At 205 he will be back now and trying to bounce back.
Krzysztof Soszynski and Stephan Bonnar will face off in an exciting rematch at UFC 116. At UFC 110 these two fighters fought a wild, brutal fight against each other that went three rounds. The problem was that this fight was waved off with a head butt from Krzysztof Soszynski.
This rematch should produce a wild match between these two competitors that has the potential to be one of the most exciting fights in recent history. These two fighters have gone in different directions recently, but time will tell if recent history plays a part in the outcome of this matchup.
UFC odds favorite, Krzysztof Soszynski has been on a great streak in the past little while. He has been finding a way to win matches in whatever way he can. Out of his last 8 matches he has managed to win 7 of them. This sort of momentum can help a fighter like him continue on with the attitude that it is his fight to lose. It can take away his concerns of his opponent and focus more on what he needs to do to win.
Stephan Bonnar has been on a bit of a slide recently. We have seen what he is capable of, even in his fight at UFC 110. He battled through that one, but was not able to finish the fight.
Even though he lost partly due to a cheap head butt it is difficult to excuse him for all of his past struggles. He has lost his last three matches and will need this one if he hopes to turn around his current trend.
On May 29th at UFC 114, Jesse Forbes and Ryan Jensen will have the opportunity to face off in a middleweight fight with a lot on the line. In what will happen with their respective fighting careers in the future, this match looks to be a deciding factor.
To see if they will remain in the UFC, it is very likely that each of these fighters will be fighting. Their career in the UFC will be at an end, if they lose. This type of weight on a fight should help to create a hard hitting fight as each fighter seeks to survive.
In their respective UFC careers so far, each of these fighters has struggled. Since Ryan Jensen’s debut at UFC Fight Night 15, he has managed just one win. Jesse Forbes likewise was beaten badly in his debut by Matt Hamill. As they square off on the 29th, each will have a lot at stake.
In the UFC, though Jesse Forbes has struggled, he has had a solid professional fighting career. He has managed to put up a record of 11-4 in his career. Similarly, Ryan Jensen has shown many signs of promise in his career. Of his 20 career matches, he has won 14. Though they have struggled to produce these results in the UFC, they each have the potential to step up their game.
What each fighter is made of, this fight will show. There should be a lot of entertainment in this fight, with so much at stake.
